Microsoft buys ScreenTonic

LONDON - Microsoft has acquired Paris-based mobile advertising company ScreenTonic.

The move is intended to bring ScreenTonic's mobile ad serving and management expertise to Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions, to offer advertising services to publishers, mobile operators and consumers, according to Steve Berkowitz, senior vice president of the Online Services Group at Microsoft.

ScreenTonic has relationships with some of the largest mobile operators in Belgium, France and the UK and offers a range of ad formats, including display ads and texts, as well as ad management and reporting.

Berkowitz said the acquisition is part of Microsoft's long term strategy to deliver ad experiences to consumers virtually anywhere and at anytime on platforms including mobile phones, PCs and Xbox games consoles.
