MGM readies online promotion to back James Bond DVD range

Entertainment and film giant MGM is to embark on a major online marketing campaign to promote the launch of a range of James Bond DVDs.

MGM UK will re-purpose online content from MGM US for a microsite that will push a DVD box-set of the famous films.

As part of an online PR and marketing campaign devised by Hyperlaunch New Media, the site will push a 'Buy-Bond-Get-Bond-Free' promotion for James Bond DVDs and videos.

Activity will promote the launch of a DVD boxed set containing all 19 Bond films on 4 November. The set also includes a promotional DVD with trailers of new Bond film Die Another Day, due out on 20 November.

Sarah Beechley, e-commerce manager at MGM UK, said the campaign will see interactive presentations for each Bond film, called 'blips', offered to e-tailers to host on their sites next to each product on sale.

E-tailers looking at taking up the point-of-sale content include HMV, WH Smith and video game specialist Game.

Don Jenkins, marketing director at Hyperlink New Media, said that James Bond-themed digital assets will appear on sites such as FHM.com, The Sun Online, Lycos UK and Freeserve.

He added: "Nearly everything will be emailable, so recipients can forward it onto friends."

He said that the microsite, accessible via MGM UK's site (www.mgmuk.com) from the end of October, will host games, themed e-cards and a jukebox of Bond theme tunes.
