Metro International names Ballantyne as head of UK sales

LONDON - Metro International has appointed Alistair Ballantyne, formerly of IPC, to head its London-based UK sales office, following three other senior sales appointments.

The publisher has promoted Adam Harris to head of creative services and Robi Moghadam to senior account executive. Each previously held the role of international account coordinators. They will be replaced by Sophie Thompson, who will take their previous responsibilities.

Ballantyne will report to Greg Miall, director of global sales, working alongside Michael Pennington, who heads the overseas sales team, and Michael Craig, who joined Metro International in January.

Prior to joining Metro International, Ballantyne spent five years at IPC, where he held the post of international group manager for Marie Claire, In Style and Wallpaper. He also previously worked for Attic Futura, Leo Burnett and Emap.

Miall said: "Alistair is a highly experienced and very creative sales manager. His work at Marie Claire, In Style and Wallpaper has been tremendous."

In January, Metro International announced it was to expand its London-based global sales team to include a multi-local arm, which would mirror the techniques used by Procter & Gamble and H&M.

Metro International produces 69 daily editions across 93 cities in 21 countries, claiming a combined daily readership of 18.5m.
