
The weather statistics for each venue are based on local observations averaged over a 30-year period between 1971 and 2000.
They provide a guide to the weather that we could expect to see in July, August and September.
Records show that in the capital, where the majority of Olympic events will take place, temperatures will typically rise to the low 20’s celsius and that rainfall is expected on around 10 days per month.
John Prior, manager of the Met Office National Climate Information Centre, said: "The UK is an island nation, and as a result has an island climate which can vary widely both from day to day, week to week and year to year."
As the Games draw closer the Met Office will display local forecasts for the Olympic and Paralympic Games on its website.
