Two challenges are on offer. Step Up 1 involves climbing the 36 storeys of 20 Fenchurch Street, also known as the Walkie-Talkie building.
For those looking for more of a challenge, Step Up 3,2,1 involves ascending Portland House in Victoria, 5 Strand in Charing Cross and 20 Fenchurch Street – a combined total of 71 storeys, 1,672 stairs and a 6.1km run between the three landmarks.
On completion of the challenges, both parties will be invited to celebrate with a glass of champagne in the recently launched venue at the final destination.
Land Securities, which owns all three buildings, chose Mencap as its official charity partner earlier this year. Gym chain Fitness First will also be activating before and at the event, supporting participants with training plans, guest passes to gyms and warm-up and cool-down exercises on the day.
Jennie Chambers, senior corporate account manager at Mencap, said: "Over 1,500 steps to climb and a 6.1km run is not for the faint-hearted. However Step Up is giving people the chance to climb one of London’s most iconic skyscrapers and take in the breathtaking views of the city, while raising money to help people with a learning disability to have the same support, advice and opportunities as everyone else."
