Men turn to celebrity magazines

LONDON - Men are driving readership figures for celebrity magazines such as Closer, Heat, New! and Reveal, according to the latest NRS figures for the last quarter of 2006.

Average issue readership for Closer was up 23%, Heat was up 17%, New! Was up 32% and Reveal up a massive 82%, over the 12 months of 2006 compared to January to December 2005.

Readership of New! magazine went up 106% amongst men but just 27% amongst women. 46% more men read Reveal magazine compared to 85% more women.

Closer's male readership went up 14%, while its female readership went up 24%.

Finally Heat's female readership increased by 18% compared to an increase of 16% for men.

The figures come from an unweighted sample of 38,076 adults, 21,686 of which are women and 16,390 men. This represents an estimated adult population of 48,186,000.
