Mediaedge:CIA reveals global management structure

LONDON - Mediaedge:CIA, the WPP Group media network, has revealed its global management structure, following last year's merger between CIA and The Media Edge, resulting in at least one senior departure.

Hans Germeraad, CEO Europe, Middle East and Africa, is to leave the agency and will not to be directly replaced. Instead, his role will be taken over by Mainardo de Nardis, who takes on the EMEA CEO role, in addition to that of chairman.

Dominic Grainger, previously chief operating officer at CIA Worldwide, will take on the role of managing director, supported by Hakan Gustavson as chief operating officer/chief financial officer.

The agency has confirmed the regional management structure in North America, Asia Pacific and Latin America, with Steve Lanzano heading up North America; Mark Austin, Asia Pacific; and Latin America continuing with its current management of David Byles and Bill Colantuono.

In November, following WPP's 拢432m purchase of Tempus, it was announced that the group was to be jointly managed by de Nardis and worldwide executive chairman Charles Courtier, who together report to WPP.

Beth Gordon will continue in her role as chairman of GME, the WPP holding company, which controls all group interests in media communication services. Tom Handy takes on the role of chief financial officer of Mediaedge:CIA Worldwide, building on his previous responsibility in this role for The Media Edge.

Mediaedge:CIA will continue to have dedicated regional management for Asia Pacific, EMEA, Latin America and North America. Central Services -- including worldwide client services, marketing, people and culture, digital, MediaLab, IT, business development, legal and finance -- will operate on a global basis, providing support to all regions, countries and clients.

Commenting on the announcement, de Nardis said: "The strength of the Mediaedge:CIA brand lies in the fact that we are not a network comprised of lots of different companies, we are a homogeneous company with many offices sharing common vision and values -- best practice is being shared between all offices and our staff are constantly developing new synergies for the benefit of our clients. I trust that our new management structure is the ideal one to build our brand by capitalising on this talent.鈥
