Mediaedge:cia appoints George as managing director

LONDON - Tom George, the deputy managing director of ZenithOptimedia, is joining Mediaedge:cia as its new managing director.

He fills a role made by vacant by the departure of Matt James, who shocked the industry by leaving after just three months to launch a start-up.

The appointment of George is something of a coup for Mediaedge:cia and its chairman Rob Norman. George is a well-regarded and respected figure on the media scene.

The announcement follows the UK launch of Group M, the consolidated WPP negotiation arm, led by Nick Theakstone. George was responsible for trading at ZenithOptimedia and the appointment of a trading heavyweight, like George, reinforces the agency's commitment to Group M.

George joins a management team made up of the client service directors Toby Jenner, Ian Redman and Andy Martin, the chairman Rob Norman and head of MediaLab David Fletcher.
