Media Week 30 under 30: Tom White, iProspect

What’s something every media industry person should do before they’re 30?

Working abroad is something everyone should strive to do and the benefits of it go beyond a different daily routine and people. Over the past four years, I have worked in the US and Singapore, and during both of these times, I’ve learnt drastically more than I have during longer timeframes in London. Being able to see different opinions, different processes, different cultures, (different rooftop bars) and different ways of working make you realise how you can help improve yourself and your work. Communications are making the world a much smaller place, but that weekly conference call with Australia isn’t going to give you the same experience and opportunity as a stint in Sydney would.

If you could only take one thing to a desert island, what would you choose and why?

Golf clubs. It would be the perfect opportunity to practice my swing. Although constantly being in the bunker may result in one or two being wrapped around a palm tree… They might also come in handy for writing SOS in the sand when I eventually get tired of falling asleep on the beach to the sound of crashing waves and waking up at sun rise. But on the other hand that sounds pretty idyllic…!
