Nineteen women and 11 men from brands, agencies and media owners were selected as our rising stars of the UK media industry.
It was the second year in a row when more women than men impressed the judges, after 20 women and ten men were picked in 2016.
The 30 winners came from a wide range of companies, including Channel 4, Exterion Media, Hearst Magazines, MEC, PHD, Procter & Gamble, Publicis Media, Talon Media, Telegraph Media Group and Twitter.
More than 100 people applied and ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 wants to thank them all because the standard of entries, which required every candidate to make a three-minute video, was extremely high.
The youngest applicant was aged just 19 and we hope some of those who missed out this year will try again in future.
We still worry about the relatively low representation of people from black, Asian and other ethnic minority backgrounds, although there was an improvement on a year ago.
Sophie Robinson, chief marketing officer of Shortlist Media, the owner of Stylist and Shortlist, said: "The standard of entries was exceptionally high. Shortlist Media is committed to helping the Met Set audience achieve the ambitious goals they set themselves before they hit 30, and it’s great to be able to do this for some in the media and creative industries."
Thank you to Shortlist Media and our judges: Davina Barker, sales director of Digital Cinema Media; Abi Morrish, head of digital engagement at MEC; Dino Myers-Lamptey, managing director of Mullen Lowe Mediahub; Tim Pearson, chief executive of Manning Gottlieb OMD; Sophie Robinson, chief marketing officer at Shortlist Media; and Daren Rubins, chief executive of Lighthouse Company; plus Gurjit Degun, news editor (print) of ±±¾©Èü³µpk10, and Gideon Spanier, head of media at ±±¾©Èü³µpk10.
Morrish was one of the Media Week 30 Under 30 2016 and won Agency Rising Star at the Media Week Awards 2016. Barker and Rubins are also former Media Week 30 Under 30 winners.
Pearson said: "The calibre of talent was impressive as was the desire to create powerful and meaningful change. I left feeling safe in the knowledge that the future of our industry is in good hands."
Barker added: "The varied and diverse talent coming through all parts of the industry is both inspiring and reassuring for the future."
As part of Shortlist Media's partnership, it gave special awards to two winners of the Media Week 30 Under 30 as they were asked what goals they had set themselves by the time they were 30 and what their plan B would be if they didn't work in media.
Becci Dive, media group manager from PHD, said she wanted to support a friend who teaches at a school in Southwark and Jamie Doubleday, head of commercial sport at, Guardian News & Media, is doing a cycle ride between John O'Groats and Land's End in aid of charity.
