Media: Shoppers turn to local press

The Newspaper Society is to publish the results of research that highlight the importance of local newspapers to retail ad campaigns.

'Retail - as we Hit a Downturn', which examines shoppers' behaviour, shows that more people are shopping closer to home and searching the local press for vouchers and special promotions.

The organisation will launch a direct campaign to highlight the results to agencies and advertisers, and will publish the findings on a microsite.
