Media planning and buying start-up targets financial clients' direct reponse needs

LONDON - A new media buying and planning agency White Spider Media has been launched by two specialists in the financial media arena.

Based in London, Hugh Perkins and Iain Prickett are focusing their service on retail and institutional clients' brand and direct response needs.

White Spider has made an affiliation deal with Brilliant, the 15th largest media agency in the UK according to Nielsen, which gives it access to buying scale and research tools. However, White Spider says that Brilliant has no financial interest in the agency.

Perkins said: "By teaming up with Brilliant, we will offer our clients the reach and resource of a larger agency, with the passion and energy that comes from being small."

The two founding directors met last year while working at Capital City Media and both have spent nine years with leading financial media agencies -- Perkins with Ptarmigan and Prickett with Coltman Media. Both spent more than a decade prior to this working on national newspapers including the Daily Mail, The Times and the Financial Times.

According to Perkins, many large agencies are now more business focused than service orientated and are offering clients "off the shelf" campaigns when they should be getting thought-provoking, diverse solutions.
