Media Bitch's Diary 31 May

This week, Bitch does lunch, sings karaoke with Initiative and The Mirror, does the Jubilee with CBS Outdoor and gets down and dirty with Viacom and MTV.

God save the Queen

Well my little patriotic types, looks like some of you are getting ready for Her Majesty's 60th anniversary on the throne then. It certainly looks like it over at CBS Outdoor towers, where they have been breaking out the tea and scones all week it seems.

Today Bitch hears, courtesy of the boss, country director Jason Cotterrell, that the team are being treated to the very English Pimms and sausage rolls, "for an hour or two" as part of a team-bonding exercise.

There's always one, though. Apparently Jason was accosted in the hallway last week by one of his charges who asked if they could "take the afternoon off" instead of attending the shindig. What part of "an hour or two" or "team bonding" do you not understand?

Shall we do lunch?

As everyone who's met this girl knows, she likes a good nosh, so she's very happy about the launch of Getlunched.com, the social media site based around Bitch's life (it seems), with trips to The Ivy, Le Caprice and Nobu.

So this girl was thrilled to hear that her friends at the site are launching a competition to lunch with the "dream team" of industry leaders, including Ogilvy's Rory Sutherland and Robin Wright from the Engine Group (had him, lunch that is)– although no media hierarchy yet darlings (Bitch is always available for a good spread).

Riding high in April, shot down in May

Bitch was hearing about all the naughty behaviour at the Newsworks Olympics event this week, presented by the industry body's new chief executive Rufus Olins (previously of the Media Week parish), where guest fitties Jonathan Edwards and Dean Macey entertained the crowds at the River Rooms at Glazier Hall.

Not as much as Alex Altman, chief executive of Initiative and David Emin, director of advertising at Mirror Group Newspapers, Bitch hears. They decided to carry on with the party, heading to Karaokebox where they allegedly murdered the Frank Sinatra classic, 'That's Life', until the early hours, this girl’s sources tell her.

Mucky MTV

Bitch hears that that bunch at MTV get up to quite a few dirty things, the mucky bunch, if their work on their Viacommunity Day is anything to go by.

Each year the little poppets at the channel's parent company Viacom support local communities where Viacom has operations.

This year, Viacom's UK-based team from MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon spent Friday (25 May) transforming three London Play adventure playgrounds across the city, volunteering at The Passage homeless shelter and Camden charity Time Bank, and working with Media Trust to offer media workshops and master-classes to disengaged young people.

Viacom

Nickelodeon consumer products were also donated to Great Ormond Street and clothing banks have been set up in each London office for the charity Traid. Well done darlings, Bitch always like guys (and girls) that like to put on the rubber (wellies), work up a sweat and get stuck in.

Well, you filthy types, enjoy the Jubilee weekend, try not to be (too) anti-social, and this girl will see you next week.
