Media 10 announces the return of Destination Star Trek

Exhibition organiser Media 10 has confirmed cult fan event Destination Star Trek (DST) will return to Excel London this October.

The event, which will run between 3 and 5 October, follows DST’s return to exhibition space Messa, Frankfurt, in February this year.

The company revealed the London event will feature a "glittering opening ceremony", as well as set, props, talks, screenings and merchandise exclusive to the DST brand.

Event design company USP Events has created a Star Trek: The Next Generation bridge set, as well as a regeneration chamber based on the show's alien race Borg, for the London and Frankfurt events, to give Star Trek fans an interactive experience.

Media 10 has said the line-up of special guests will be revealed when tickets go on sale on 2 June. The last event, held in October 2012, saw 18,000 fans descend upon the Docklands venue.

Jonathon Chew, show manager at Media 10, told Event: "We are expecting between 15,000 and 20,000 people to come this year. Everything we are doing is building towards Star Trek’s 50th anniversary in 2016."

In response to the 2012 event’s , Chew said: "We have taken the experiences from London 2012 and Frankfurt 2014, and are putting this knowledge into making the event better for fans."

Rob Nathan, marketing director at Media 10, added: "We are thrilled to be able to announce the return of Destination Star Trek to London. We have some incredible guests, interactive features and exclusive material lined up for the fans at the event."
