McDonald's gets fashionable for global packaging refresh

The new designs, described by the company as "simple and fresh", will spread out to all of its restaurants worldwide this year.

Two students from the design school were selected to create one-of-a-kind accessories using the new packaging.

Current student Pablo Machado and recent graduate Ricardo Hardouin were given 48 hours to create fashionable items to complement any wardrobe.

Using 50 bags, 72 straws, 22 cups, eight sandwich boxes along with some bling, including rhinestones and pearls, the duo came up with a collection including a sun hat, a pair of straw-spiked shoes, four handbags that can hold a Big Mac or a lipstick, and a backpack.
