McDonald's backs new McFlurry with summer imagery

LONDON - McDonald's is focusing on the British love of strawberries in summer with new television campaign for McFlurry, created by Leo Burnett.

Shot in the style of a pop promo and drawing on the look of famed poster designer Michael English, the new ad for McDonald's McFlurry Strawberries and Cadbury Dream breaks this weekend on national and satellite television.

The ad was shot by production company Intro, which also shot Joss Stone's video 'Super Duper Love', and opens on a pair of pink lips. It features a girl eating the new McFlurry and escaping into a world of summertime, illustrated by animation swirling around the girl.

The campaign was created by Trevor Webb and Ed Morris at Leo Burnett, and directed by Kate Dawkins at Intro. Media planning and buying was by OMD, with the ad breaking on Sunday.

John Hawkes, marketing director at McDonald's UK, said: "We know that our customers love the novelty of different flavours and this commercial really brings to life the mood of McFlurry Strawberries and Cadbury Dream."
