He joins McDonald's from Blockbuster Online where he spent four years, most recently as managing director for online and marketing director.
MacCrow will join the McDonald's marketing team from July 5, reporting directly to Jill McDonald, senior vice-president and chief marketing officer for the restaurant chain.
Previous to Blockbuster, Macrow spent nine years with high street retailer Marks & Spencer.
McDonald said: "We are delighted to welcome Alistair to McDonald's and are all looking forward to having him in our team. He brings with him a wealth of experience which will be invaluable as we continue to develop and deliver our marketing strategies to grow sales and strengthen the business."
McDonald's has most recently teamed up with DreamWorks Animation for a UK-based competition and on product promotion based around the studio's upcoming release, 'Shrek the Third'.
It is attempting to position itself as a health conscious destination for children, by only including promotion for the film on menu items that are not high in fat, salt or sugar.
