McDonald's to give kids quest in Shrek tie-up

Fast-food giant McDonald's is teaming up with DreamWorks Animation for a competition based around the studio's upcoming release Shrek the Third.

The push links with Shrek's quest in the film to restore a young King Arthur to the throne by featuring different challenges on three Happy Meal box designs. Children are encouraged to design a ship to beat the pirates, create a magic spell and invent a shield.

They can enter their designs to win one of 100 Shrek-filled goody bags, one of 15 computers and Shrek games, and the ultimate prize of London trip.

- Cinema chain Odeon is also linking with the film to offer free Shrek ears for each advance children's ticket bought before 22 June.
