With just under two years to go to the 2012 Olympics, Johnson will be looking to pick up tips on hosting a major international sporting event and will be promoting the capital's reputation as a destination for World class events.

During his trip he will visit a live FIFA Fan Fest site, see a community legacy project in one of Cape Town's townships and take in England's game against Algeria at the Green Point Stadium on Friday (18 June).

He will also attend several meetings with key FIFA sponsors and South African politicians, and will be one of the keynote speakers at a UKTI International Business Networking breakfast event.

"The World Cup is one of the most exciting events on the planet where everyone comes together in celebration of the great game. With the eyes of the world on South Africa it is the best place to be to sell the capital and lobby for further investment. And as London prepares to host the 2012 Games, it is also a fantastic opportunity to learn from South Africa's experience of hosting major, world class events," said Johnson.
