The tea has been inspired by the designer’s autumn winter collection for 2015 (AW15). Balthazar’s head pastry chef Régis Beauregard has worked with his team to create a platter reflecting Williamson’s jewel colour palettes and ‘bohemian Brit girl’ inspiration.
Guests will be able to sample traditional choux pastry filled with fresh yuzu curd, blueberry macaroons and white chocolate Chantilly cake. Afternoon tea sandwiches will also be on offer, such as coronation chicken on white bread and smoked salmon with lemon crème fraiche on brown bread.
The brand has also worked with Brian Silva, Balthazar’s bar manager, to create the bespoke Cosmic Cocktail, which features Campari, Mandarine Napoleon, sugar, and champagne.
The Matthew Williamson AW15 Afternoon Tea at Balthazar will be available to sample until 5 February 2016 between 3pm and 5pm each day.
Williamson said: "I am delighted to be collaborating with Balthazar again to create this new afternoon tea. The pastry chefs have captured not just the jewel tones of our winter collection but motifs of the brand like a hummingbird crafted in sugar.
"It is wonderful to see the designs translated into cakes and cocktails."
Matthew Williamson collaborated with gin brand Hendrick's and Blake's Hotel Kensington .
