Mattel Play! is set to open in Spring 2016. It will be housed within The Grand Hall at Albert Dock.

The 13,000 square foot facility promises a range of interactive play experiences across three themed zones. It will feature three of Mattel’s children’s brands: Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam and Thomas & Friends.

Guests will be able to help Thomas restore order to Sodor Island, and start a construction apprenticeship with the aforementioned Bob and sidekick Wendy. Mattel Play! is marketing itself as a ‘challenging, exciting and safe environment’.

The £1.5m facility will be operated by Heritage Great Britain, the group behind tourist destinations such as Land’s End and Snowdon Mountain Railway.

Julie Freeland, senior director, Global Live Events & Attractions at Mattel, said: "Liverpool is the perfect location and Heritage Great Britain the perfect partner for this new world-class attraction. Our brands are known and loved by children around the world and the architectural splendour of Albert Dock provides the perfect backdrop for launching our first Mattel Play!"
