Peter Grieve, operations manager for Building contractor Laing O’Rourke, officially handed over the new extension to Manchester Central chief executive Lesley Tomlinson and project director Dave Mallard on 8 September.

The venue now boasts an additional 2,000sqm of flexible space, which can accommodate up to 800 guests.

The Labour Party Conference will be the first event to take advantage of the redeveloped venue at the end of September.

The venue will officially re-launch in early 2011.
