The acquisition will give the two companies a greater range of services, infrastructure and customer support. Mailtrack clients, in particular, will benefit from a larger base of technological knowledge and experience that the UK-based company will be able to tap into.
Connectus is a global company with offices in London, New York, Toronto, Seattle, Vancouver and Dublin. It provides technological marketing services for clients including McDonald's, Vodafone, SC Johnson, Diageo and Mercedes-Benz.
Mailtrack's Media Services division will retain its name, trading under Mailtrack Media, a Connectus company.
Mailtrack founders Guy Marson and Russell Parsons will stay on and continue to run the company.
Parsons said: "All our clients can gain access to immediate benefits from this acquisition, which is why we entered into it.
"We feel that the partnership of services and expertise will enable us to build on our position as market leader in online communication solutions."
Peter Steele, CEO of Connectus, added: "This is another strategic step for Connectus. The acquisition of Mailtrack provides Connectus with a pre-eminent e-marketing business and client base in the UK, a country that forms a core component for our strategic growth plans."
Mailtrack was formed in 1999 and is a founder member of the DMA's E-mail Marketing Council, with recent client wins including Black & Decker, Fantasy Games and The Tea Council.
