M&S plans 125th birthday ad campaign

LONDON - Marks & Spencer's is planning a TV advertising campaign to break in mid May to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the retailer's founding.

The ad is believed to be narrated by Twiggy, who first starred in M&S ads in 1967, 42 years ago. It is due to be aired around the same time the company announces its annual results.

As part of celebratiions to mark its anniversary, M&S announced in February that it would hold an exhibition at the University of Leeds.

The items include products and photographs through to company literature and advertising. The company's founder, Michael Marks, opened his first store at Leeds' Kirkgate market in 1884.
