
Gottlieb worked for nine years at the BBC, where he led the rebranding of BBC News. He held a variety of roles at the broadcaster including director of marketing, communications and audiences on the television and journalism boards.
In the newly-created role at London & Partners, Gottlieb will direct a number of departments including the strategy, insight and propositions, communications and brand teams.
He will take up the position in January 2013 and joins London & Partners from Oxfam, where he has been director of communications since May.

Gottlieb said: "2012 has been a momentous year for London and with the legacy of the Olympic Games now in full swing it's a particularly crucial time for London’s reputation as the global city to live, work, study and invest."
Gordon Innes, chief executive of London & Partners, said: "There is huge potential for London in the coming months and years to build on the successes of 2012. This new role will develop a city-wide strategy to deliver the promotion of London’s great companies, events and individuals."
Gottlieb’s appointment is part of a restructure, which recently saw director of digital Julie Chappell promoted to director of consumer marketing and digital.
