London International Boat Show planning to expand next year alongside Excel

The Tullet Prebon London International Boat Show's marketing manager has told Event that the show is planning to expand in 2011 alongside its host, Excel London, as ticket sales for the event rise by 15%.

X Factor finalists Olly Murs and Stacey Solomon opened the show earlier today (8 January). Some 500 exhibitors and 125,000 visitors are expected.

"The British public have not been put off by the weather and our ticket sales have risen by 15% on last year. The show has a loyal following and is seen as a great day out," said the show's marketing manager Samantha Bryant.

"Next year we are planning a big extension as Excel expands."

Highlights at the event, which is organised by National Boat Shows and the British Marine Federation, include sail boats, dinghies, engines, electronics, deck equipment and charter holidays.

This year, a show record of 80 product launches are expected. The most expensive boat on show will be the Sunseeker 37 Metre, priced at £11m.
