London now cheaper than New York for events

The weakness of the pound makes the capital a more viable option for international events in London, according to a new survey.

The latest Economist Intelligence Unit survey by the Worldwide Cost of Living revealed that London is cheaper to inhabit and visit than New York, for the first time since 2002.

"With the pound on a par with the euro and the dollar being so much stronger than last year, there has never been a better time to consider London," said Visit London interim chief executive Sally Chatterjee. "Venues and hotels are also looking to support our lead in this area by providing competitive rates to go even further than the exchange rate benefits."
