The live events, which were organised by Harvey Goldsmith and Bob Geldof, were promoted using the accompanying single Do They Know It's Christmas?

Rock star deaths were also present on the countdown. Michael Jackson's death was touted as the most influential, coming in fourth, ahead of John Lennon and Kurt Cobain

The Live Aid events, which took place at London's Wembley Stadium and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, were touted as influencing a mass participation in a charitable movement. However, they came second in the list behind the advent of digital downloads.

The creation of reality shows, such as The X Factor, was in ninth position.

"The fact that Live Aid has proved so influential to so many people even after all this time is certainly an indication of how much we value the heritage of that music," said Kevin Spector, head of music a programming at Music Choice.

Harvey Goldsmith was voted at number 82 in, a list of the top 100 most influential people in the event industry.
