Hatswell will assume the new role of general manager of the venue consortium – the first full-time paid position on the board – as of September.
Moya Maxwell, head of commercial programming at the Royal Opera House, will take her place as acting chairman.
Hatswell has been involved with UVL for over ten years – as a board member for seven and chairman for four.
Until now, UVL has been run by its board members who are all volunteers from with its membership base.
In her new role Hatswell will be responsible for assisting the acting chairman and "maintaining growth in the organisation as well as managing the collection’s annual activities, marketing and events programme".
"UVL has long been part of my career and I am delighted that I can continue to support all its work in the industry as its first general manager," she said.
"As the organisation has continued to develop over the years, a real need has evolved for additional behind the scenes support for the board and membership. UVL is going from strength to strength and I am pleased to be able to continue on its exciting journey," she added.
