The deal is expected to generate a turnover in excess of £3m, and will see Lindley Heritage work on the venue’s Terrace Café and conference and banqueting facilities.
The River & Rowing Museum attracts 117,000 visitors a year and provides hospitality services for events and corporate and private functions.
Lindley Heritage will be responsible for developing the museum’s food offering and catering services, and the company has undertaken a full review of the Terrace Café changing the service offering from pre-cooked, canteen style counter food to menus. They will focus on locally-sourced and seasonal produce from suppliers such as Lawlor’s Bakery and Brakspear Beers.
All catering and service staff at the River & Rowing Museum will also be retrained by The Lindley Group.
Paul Mainds, chief executive at the River & Rowing Museum in Henley, said: "We have been impressed with the Lindley team’s attention to detail and how they are attuned to local touches which make each venue different and special, and then tailor the offering accordingly. The step changes they are making will significantly enhance the experience of everyone who visits the museum."
Nigel Hutson, The Lindley Group’s operations director, Heritage, added: "Working with the River & Rowing Museum gives us a great opportunity to showcase the excellent local suppliers and regional produce available in and around Henley and Oxford, and provide catering services which enable the museum’s events team to maximise the potential of their venue."
