League calls for second administrator to be appointed to ITV Digital

LONDON - The Football League has called for a second administrator to be appointed to ITV Digital to avoid a conflict of interest at its current administrator Deloitte & Touche, which has links with the league.

The league has sought advice from David Kroll, chairman of Kroll Buchler Philips, an insolvency advisory business. Kroll is also vice-chairman of Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur.

Kroll has advised that, because Deloitte & Touche is privy to information about some league football teams, its appointment as administrator to ITV Digital could compromise the accountant's position in the negotiations.

Deloitte & Touche acts as auditor and adviser to numerous football clubs and is given access to confidential financial information by the Football League for its annual review of football finance.

However, Deloitte & Touche has rejected the claims saying it was "confident there is not any conflict. We wouldn't have taken on the work if we thought there was a problem".
