The mobile phone amnesty is part of a London-wide charity initiative that will launch on December 19 through to January 22 and raise money for the National Missing Persons Helpline.
To support the campaign, Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, will feature in an exclusive interview throughout the launch day on LBC 97.3FM and LBC News 1152AM.
The stations will run trails voiced by Livingstone five times a day for the five-week duration of the campaign.
Metro will run ads in its London edition and 300 four-sheet poster sites will run across London Underground and London mainline stations. A4 posters are to be displayed in venues distributing the recycling bags and 26 Ponti's restaurants in London.
Each mobile phone donated by freepost recycling bags will generate £5 for the charity and will be collected by Planet Mobile UK. The recycling bags can be requested by visiting or picked up at around 900 locations across the capital including libraries, community centres, doctors, dentists and health clubs.
David Lloyd, managing director of LBC, said: "Given the interactive LBC 97.3FM format revolves around phones, this seems an ideal cause to focus on. We're delighted with the way the appeal has been embraced by the Mayor, Metro and Recycle for London."
