Sudoku-GUI is the first mobile game from Leading Edge Ventures (LEV), and contains over 8,000 puzzles in three different levels.
The difference between the LEV version and other mobile Sudoku games is that players are able to make "notes" on the puzzle. This replicates the paper version of the game where players can mark up squares with potential answers, while they solve the rest of the puzzle.
While other mobile versions of the game allow squares to be "marked up" with up to four numbers, the LEV version will allow all nine numbers to be included -- an essential device for those attempting to solve genius Sudoku puzzles. Sudoku-GUI also has an "undo" feature and the puzzles can be solved in two modes: normal and guru.
Sudoku has been the sensation of 2005, and now appears in almost all the national newspapers and in numerous books. Future Publishing has jumped on the bandwagon, with a magazine devoted to the puzzles, and there are various other mobile and online versions of the game.
Brian Strain, managing director of LEV and a keen Sudoku fan, admitted that there was a considerable amount of Sudoku material available, but said he viewed Sudoku-GUI as the best around.
"With so many puzzles contained within this mobile game and with a vast array of tough puzzles available over and above the two-play modes, Leading Edge Ventures is marketing this product as the biggest, baddest and best Sudoku game currently available for mobiles," said Strain.
