Larry Barker resigns from BMP DDB

LONDON - Larry Barker has resigned from his role as executive creative director of BMP DDB, just five months after the creative department was restructured in a move that saw him shifted away from its day-to-day running.

Barker has not announced what his next move will be and no formal leaving date has been given, although it is understood that he has a three-month notice period to serve.

In a statement, Ross Barr, joint chief executive of BMP DDB, said: "Larry Barker has decided, after nearly five years here, not to renew his contract and is therefore leaving the agency in order to seek a fresh challenge. This has been an entirely amicable agreement, and we are extremely grateful to Larry for the contribution he has made over this period."

Barker returned to the agency in 1997 after splitting with long-term creative partner Rooney Carruthers, ending a partnership spanning 17 years. The pair spent four years as joint creative directors of WCRS, where they launched Orange. Prior to this, they were at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, also for four years, where they created ads for brands such as Haagen-Dazs and Levi's, including "swimmer".

In May this year, BMP DDB promoted Jeremy Craigen and Ewan Paterson to be joint creative directors, with Barker moved to the executive role. At the time, Barker told 北京赛车pk10 magazine: "I'm really excited about it. It's a job I've been partly doing for some time."

Barker was not available for comment.
