The two companies will sponsor coverage across broadcast, online and mobile platforms, including a new app that will include the latest team news and results.

Creative work for the sponsorship will be handled by Y&R, which was served notice on the global Land Rover account last week, and Adam & Eve/DDB, which holds the SSE business.

Mindshare and OMD brokered the deals on behalf of Land Rover and SSE respectively.

Laura Schwab, the marketing director at Jaguar Land Rover UK, said: "We will be using the ITV partnership to reach out and involve grass-roots clubs from the UK and around the world.

"Our ‘#WeDealInReal’ campaign will aim to inspire and entertain the audience by championing the people and clubs that are the heart and soul of the game."

Land Rover is a top-tier sponsor of the Rugby World Cup alongside brands including MasterCard and Heineken. The competition will take place in the UK during September and October.

Stephen Knight, the chief marketing officer at SSE, said: "SSE is looking forward to energising people’s support of the game."
