KFC to give away a family meal every month for 50 years as part of 50th celebrations

KFC is kicking off a 12-month marketing push to commemorate 50 years since the fast food chain launched in the UK.

The first ad, called "families", features a foster child joining a family. It launches today and aims to capture the way a KFC can bring families together.

The second stage of the campaign is called '#50YearsOfKFC'. It will include two additional spots promoting KFC’s Original Recipe and Zinger chicken.

The TV ads will encourage people to use social media to pledge what they would do for their favourite KFC, using the #50yearsofKFC hashtag.

The best suggestions will be challenged to carry out their pledge for the chance to win one KFC meal a month to share with their loved ones for the next 50 years.

The campaign was created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty, where the creative team was Matt Fitch and Mark Lewis. The spot was directed by Ben Liam Jones through Mustard.

David Timm, the vice president of marketing at KFC, said: "This is a landmark year for KFC and gives us the opportunity to remind our fans why they love KFC and to also hopefully bring some new fans to the Colonel’s great tasting chicken.

"We are extremely proud of #50YearsOfKFC and families, which show the balance we’re trying to achieve through big, emotional brand campaigns that strike a closer connection with consumers, and celebrating our food, flavour and ingredients."
