The Kew the Movies nights will show films on big outdoor screens against the backdrop of Kew Palace and on the Croquet and Mansion Lawns at Wakehurst Place in Sussex, which is also part of Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew.
Kew has been exploring the possibility of adding outdoor cinema to its popular Kew the Music outdoor concert series which include Status Quo, M People and Tim Minchin this year.
Kew the Movies will show The Artist, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Grease at Kew Gardens from 6 – 8 September while The King’s Speech and Mamma Mia will be shown at Wakehurst on 14 – 15 September.
As with the Kew the Music events, guests will be encouraged to bring picnics and there will also be hampers which can be pre-ordered and food outlets on site.
Visitors to Wakehurst can dine at the estate's Jacobean mansion in the Wakehurst Cinema Supper Club package, which guarantees a reserved seat on the lawns for the evening’s film.
