Kerrang! backs Download festival with cross-media push

LONDON – Emap Performance has signed a deal to promote the 2005 Download Festival through ticket promotions, competitions and interviews on its Kerrang! magazine, TV, radio and online platforms.

Download promoter Clear Channel Entertainment is seeking to draw rock fans to Donington Park on June 10-12 to see acts including Feeder, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, Velvet Revolver, System of a Down, Slayer and Slipknot.

Emap has planned a cross-media campaign to run from now to June, reaching a national audience. Kerrang! Radio, which now reaches 1.13m listeners across the UK, has been appointed as the festival's exclusive radio partner.

Gigi Dryer, head of ticketing and co-promotions at Emap Performance, said: "The Kerrang! platform has proved to be the number one destination for rock and metal lovers and has transformed the promotion of live events in this sector. Our unique co-promotion offering of cross-media ticket selling capabilities and market position has enabled a host of events to sell out in record time."

Jenni Cairns, marketing director at Clear Channel Entertainment, said: "Kerrang! is the natural choice for promoting the festival across the UK, and we look forward to an incredibly successful 2005."
