Kent Messenger hires LinkDirect for Bexley task

LONDON – The Kent Messenger Group, owner of more than 18 regional newspaper titles, has called in door-drop specialist Link Direct to help it launch its new free weekly Bexley Extra.

Bexley Extra launches this month and LinkDirect will handle the delivery of some 73,000 copies of the new publication, which complements the Kent Messenger Group portfolio of papers serving Kent.

The KM Bexley Extra is the 11th title in the Extra series. Distribution covers areas from Thamesmead to Foots Cray and Eltham to Crayford. The potential readership for the new title is expected to be 105,000.

David Fey, Kent Messenger Group's newspaper sales administration manager, said that the group already distributes more than half-a-million free newspapers through its own KM Direct network, but felt that a launch in the Bexley area was important enough to seek the help of specialists.

LinkDirect has also confirmed that it is developing a bespoke distribution division for publishers of free newspapers.
