Kate Moss makes another comeback as the face of Calvin Klein

LONDON – Supermodel Kate Moss has struck a lucrative deal to return as the face of Calvin Klein, the brand that helped make her name 14 years ago.

The high-profile comeback follows a turbulent period for the 32-year-old, during which she has battled with claims of cocaine abuse and lost several modelling contracts.

She appears to have emerged from her troubles as in demand as ever, with more good news for the supermodel seemingly just around the corner.

Just this week, reports suggested that unless sensational new evidence arises, Moss is likely to be cleared of charges that she was snorting cocaine when photographed at a London recording studio with her on/off/on boyfriend Pete Doherty. Grainy pictures shot on a camera phone appeared in the Daily Mirror last September.

The Calvin Klein deal marks a high point in a steady renaissance of the Moss brand in recent months. She has secured several new deals, including a £1.2m Virgin tie-up and a £1m Stella McCartney contract, and appeared in a new campaign for Rimmel London.

The Calvin Klein campaign is worth a reported £500,000 to her. Moss also appeared on the front cover of February's Vogue magazine.

In the new magazine and poster campaign for Calvin Klein jeans, the Croydon-born model will appear alongside Jamie Dornan, British model and ex-boyfriend of actress Keira Knightley. It will be shot in New York this week and is scheduled to roll out in the autumn.

Fabien Baron, the campaign's creative director, founder of New York-based ad agency Baron & Baron, said: "Kate and the Calvin Klein brand have a long history together and it felt natural to reunite them for this new jeans campaign, which will inevitably re-ignite that spark and highlight the sexy, cool essence of Kate and Calvin Klein."

Moss was propelled to fame after the 1992 Calvin Klein black and white ads in which she appeared with a bare-chested Mark Wahlberg. She continued to work with the US fashion brand until 1999.
