The Department for Education is in the process of shutting all of its public-sector magazines, which are produced by John Brown.
Teachers, which had primary and secondary school versions with a combined circulation of 335,000, and Governors magazines have not had their joint contract renewed.
Early Years magazine, which is aimed at nursery teachers, is on a separate contract that the DFE is "winding up", according to a DFE spokesman.
He said the decision was part of "an immediate freeze during 2010-11 on all new and existing government advertising and marketing spend. We expect to save £1.6m year on year by cancelling Teachers magazine."
Seven Squared, which produces the Metropolitan Police title The Job, is understood to have reduced the title from a monthly to a bimonthly.
