JDA strengthens board from within

LONDON - Leeds-based direct response agency JDA has promoted creative director John Sheridan and media account director Martin Heywood to the board as part of a shake-up at the agency, following its management buyout three years ago.

Heywood and Sheridan will join managing director Carl Hopkins, strategic communications director Mike Ashton and financial director Tony Viggers -- part of the MBO team -- on the company's board.

"We felt that, now we had produced two profitable year ends since the MBO, it was time to strengthen the board and recognise the effort and commitment these two individuals have shown JDA through what has been our most important three-year period," Hopkins said.

The company was founded in 1982 by former DMA chairman Judith Donovan CBE. She sold JDA in October 2000 to the MBO team to allow her to concentrate on other interests.

The agency expects to announce a number of promotions, as well as new account wins, in the coming weeks.
