Jazz FM reviews advertising in run-up to £2m relaunch

LONDON - Jazz FM is reviewing its £2m advertising account, as it prepares to relaunch next year with a boosted marketing budget.

The incumbent is WARL Change Behaviour, which is on the shortlist for the review, along with Soul, Kitcatt Nohr, Alexander Shaw and Finex. Nicola Thomson, head of marketing, is overseeing the review.

Jazz FM's advertising is currently based around an image of a colourful chameleon wearing headphones, introduced five years go. Most recently, it ran a poster campaign showing the chameleon peering through a misted-up window with the words "come into the cool" written into the condensation.

The station was sold to the Guardian Media Group for £44.5m in June this year. GMG has since moved its £15m national sales contract from Clear Channel Radio Sales into Chrysalis Radio Sales. Local sales for Jazz FM are set to be moved in-house.
