James leaves Starcom to join Figtree

Starcom ideation and innovation manager Duncan James has left the agency to join brand consultancy Figtree.

James set up the agency's ideas generation initiative Notion, which encouraged Starcom staff to create new thinking through a series of workshop activities.

Figtree consists of animators, illustrators, event organisers and branding consultants who work on campaigns for clients including Orange, Mazda, Sony Ericsson and the Co-op Group. James has been employed by the independent network, which now wants to enhance its strategic department.

James said: "I always wanted to work within a smaller environment and this position is very hands on. I just wanted to do some pure brand strategy.

"Joining Figtree will let me apply the skills that I gained at Starcom to marketing issues and not just communications issues, which was the main field I wanted to be in. What I did at Starcom was very much a precursor to this."
