Ives steps up at Elle as search goes on to replace Bailey

LONDON - Hachette Filipacchi has appointed Laurel Ives as acting editor of Elle magazine as the search continues to replace Sarah Bailey, who is to join Harpers Bazaar in New York as deputy editor-in-chief.

Ives, currently deputy editor at Elle, takes up her new role on February 23 for an interim period pending the appointment of a new editor.

Hachette has also appointed Andrew Falconer as managing editor of Elle and Elle Decoration magazines. Falconer was previously managing editor of Elle Decoration and its young women's magazine B. He will continue to manage B magazine until the newly created post of managing editor of B and Red is filled.

Elle publisher Lara Wilkins said: "I'm extremely confident that our interim plan for Elle will be a huge success. The combined experience of Laurel and Andrew makes them a fantastically strong team."

The magazine has also appointed a new features editor in Anna Purseglove, replacing Rachael Philipps who left the magazine in December to live and work in New York.

Purseglove is a freelance writer who during the past two years has written for Marie Claire, Harpers & Queen, the Evening Standard, The Observer, the Sunday Times and Time Out as well as editing special projects for Elle.
