Monkey was to have interviewed the stars alongside his TV ad side-kick Al, played by comedian Johnny Vegas, in an ITV show separate to the Brits.
However, due to ITC regulations, ITV will not be allowed to use Monkey, as he is seen as being a symbol of ITV Digital's advertising.
Monkey was created by advertising agency Mother, which was ±±¾©Èü³µpk10's Agency of the Year 2001.
According to a spokesman for the Brits, there is no way that Monkey will be presenting at the music show awards following the ITC ruling. The Brits are now looking for another presenter to take Monkey's place.
Unlike ITV Digital, the stuffed toy has become an icon and collector's item since he was introduced as the face of ITV Digital. ITV has been inundated with requests from people wanting Monkeys and from others wanting to do deals using Monkey.
Monkey and Vegas are already set to get their own sketch show later in the year, which is due to be broadcast on ITV1. There has also been talk of a possible record, taking Monkey down the same road as fellow cuddly advertising icon Levi Strauss' Flat Eric.
The Brit Awards take place at Earl's Court in London on February 21 and will be broadcast on ITV.
Those nominated include Gorillaz, Dido, Hear'Say, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Atomic Kitten and The Strokes.
