The news is a real blow for Sky One in the highly competitive market as it battles it out against ITV2, Living TV and E4.
The series, starring Simon Cowell and his acid put-downs to wannabe singers, debuted last Friday and attracted a peak audience of more than 1m viewers in both its shows, beating last season's third outing for the US 'Pop Idol' show.
Other ITV2 shows that have fared well in the ratings include 'Jordan and Peter Laid Bare', '3rd Rock From the Sun', and 'Coronation Street' repeats.
Over two weekends and a week, ITV2 managed an average 2.4% share, beating Sky One with 2.1% of the audience in multichannel homes.
However, when figures for Sky One's repeats channel Sky Mix are added, Sky reaches a 2.4% share.
ITV2 has benefited from extra investment from ITV, with its budget doubled to £48m. ITV2 also gets extensive cross-promotion from ITV1 and has been helped by the growth of free-to-air-satellite service, Freeview, which does not carry Sky One.
