American Idol and Stallone reality show head ITV2 list

LONDON - US reality shows, including the fourth series of 'American Idol' and new boxing show 'The Contender' starring Sylvestor Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard, are headlining ITV2's 2005 schedule.

'The Contender' will see 16 boxers selected from a US-wide search mentored by 'Rocky' and 'Rambo' star Stallone and former boxer Leonard as they compete for a $1m prize.

The boxers will live and train together, with each episode culminating in a match where one boxer gets eliminated and the other moves a step closer to the prize money.

The fourth series of 'American Idol' returns to ITV2 with acid-tongued Simon Cowell, 80s singer Paula Abdul and peacekeeper Randy Jackson as judges. The grand final, where one of the 70,000 hopefuls will be crowned American Idol, will be shown in May 2005.

Other entertainment highlights include a second series of 'When Jordan Met Peter', following the glamour model and 'Mysterious Girl' singer as they prepare for their wedding.

The 'Brits 25' covers all the action from the 25th annual Brit Awards including: 'The Launch', which features performances and interviews with the nominees; 'The Red Carpet' with exclusive coverage of the celebrities arriving for the main event; and 'The Party' with all the action from the after-show party.

The Uefa Champions League, Uefa Cup and the 39th Super Bowl make up the sporting highlights, while movies 'American Pie 2', 'Mission Impossible 2', 'The Fast and the Furious' and 'X-Men' are showcased.
