ITV1 wins ratings game with Liverpool v Reading FA Cup replay

LONDON - ITV1's screening of the Liverpool versus Reading FA Cup replay won the peaktime ratings battle last night with five million viewers, just beating Channel 4's TV premiere of 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

The match, which saw Liverpool eliminated from the FA Cup by lower league Reading, drew 20.2% of the audience between 7.30pm and 10.45pm.

Danny Boyle's 'Slumdog Millionaire', aired as part of Channel 4's 'Indian Winter' season,  managed to draw 4.4 million viewers between 9pm and 11.30pm.

Channel 4's figures, which include the contribution from Channel 4+1, give it a share of 24.3%.

BBC One's crime drama 'Inspector George Gently' attracted 4.1 million viewers, a 15.6% share, between 8.30pm and 10pm

Five's 'NCIS' snared 2.2 million viewers and an 8.4% share, beating BBC Two's 'Horizon: Why do Viruses Kill?" which pulled in 1.6 million and a 6% share in the 9pm-10pm slot.
