
The first episode of ‘Coronation Street’ had an average audience of 11.63 million between 7.30pm and 8pm on ITV1 and ITV1 HD, a 44.4% share of the TV watching audience.
Between 8.30pm and 9pm the second serving of ‘Coronation Street’ had an average audience of 12.90 million on ITV1 and ITV1 HD, a 45.8% share of the TV watching audience.
The peak audience for the first show was 12.8 million viewers and a 28% share and the peak audience for the dramatic second episode was 14.6 million viewers and a 50% share.
The first ever episode of the soap, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Thursday, was shown between 8pm and 8.30pm and achieved an average audience of 6.76 million, a 24.3% share of the audience.
The BBC soap ‘EastEnders’ lagged behind its contemporary rival last night with an audience of 8.57 million across BBC One and BBC One HD between 8pm and 8.30pm, a 30.8% share of the TV watching public.
‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Coming Out’ had an average audience of 7.55 million on ITV1 and ITV1 HD between 9pm and 10pm last night, a 28.6% share of the TV watching audience.
On BBC One and BBC One HD the Jimmy McGovern drama ‘Accused’ got an average audience of 3.42 million between 9pm and 10pm, a 13% share of the TV watching audience.
